BACK IN HER HUSBAND’S BED

Alex MacKinloch is chief of his clan and, in these dark times of unrest, he has united his people. The void between him and his wife is proving a much harder challenge. When Alex discovers Laren has been keeping secrets from him, his thinly veiled frustration can no longer be contained.

The pleasures of the marital bed seem long forgotten to Laren. Yet her warrior husband is looking at her with increasingly hungry eyes... This powerful highlander has seduction on his mind and his wife in his sights!

My Thoughts:

Seduced by Her Highland Warrior continues where the first book in the series, Claimed by the Highland Warrior left off.  I was waiting to finally learn more about Alex and Laren.  Their story is different from many historical romance books I have read, with the main characters being married and dealing with some hard issues which have caused them to grow apart.
Alex is the chief and trying to rebuild his keep, but to me, this is the secondary storyline in this page turning book. The real story is the about dealing and coping after the emotional loss of a child. When their young infant son died, a part of them has died too, a vital part of them has been ripped away and each dealing with it their own way. They stopped communicating and drifted apart, no longer connecting emotionally, physically, and sexually with each other.

Alex kept himself busy with strengthening his clan for future attacks and rebuilding the keep. He spent hours doing this, sometimes never returning home until late in the evening. So busy, that he nearly forgot about Laren and his two daughters. For Laren, she disappeared for hours each day, never telling him where she was going or what she was doing. Alex never asked either, not wanting to know that maybe she just wanted to avoid being with him.
It was agonizing feeling their pain; Alex knew he didn’t have a true marriage any longer, he just didn’t know what he had to do to get her back. Laren keeping her secret for nearly three years, the one that had kept her from burying herself in grief when she buried her son.  They hadn’t known how to help each other through the pain when they’d never handled it themselves.
Over time, they bridged the gap between them, finally opening up to one another, sharing their fears, their worries. It was beautifully written, a very inspiring story of a couple who lost their way and found each other again.  You couldn’t help but cheer for their happy ending.
The next in the series is Callum’s story, I am looking forward to this one, too.
