A graduate student working in animal genetics, Beth Coldwell is in town to track and tag big cats in the wild. Her prospects for the summer only improve when she meets Kelan and Reidar Falke and decides the sexy brothers are the right pair to fulfill her other, less than scientific, desires...
But her research is a threat to the Falke family secret. When Kelan, in cougar form, is captured, that secret comes closer than ever to being revealed. He escapes, but not before Beth draws a blood sample, and analysis shows this is no ordinary mountain lion.
Kelan and Reidar cannot deny the powerful attraction they feel toward Beth. She might just be their destined mate. But if they reveal themselves to her, will she embrace who they are or see them as just another science experiment?
My Thoughts:
I put off reading Falke's Captive thinking it was a short story with no depth; I was pleasantly surprised by this book. This is book two in the Puma Night series; you don’t need to read the first book to enjoy this one. Though, I now want to go back and read the first book, Falke's Peak and meet the two older brothers, Alex and Gunnar.
You quickly learn the Falke family is unique, not only are there eight in the family: a set of quadruplets, and a set of triplets but they are Shifters. Then add in the element they must mate in pairs, two brothers for one woman and you have a very HOT book!! WOW!!! There is more to this book then a ménage relationship.
"...I wasn't looking for my mate - our mate. And I damn sure never expected her to shoot me in the ass when I did find her."
I felt everything wrapped up to quickly at the end and I would have like to see some more romance between Kelan, Reidar and Beth. It was a fun read. If you love shifters and the added suspense element, you won’t be disappointed in Falke’s Peak.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
My Rating:
~♥ Why do I love Shifters? ~♥
For me, I think it's the fantasy element of being both human and animal. The raw power they have. Shifters are sexy and brutally handsome. Depending on their species, they possess uncanny super strength or maybe they are self healers, all with their own uniqueness. All of them have the stamina to satisfy you in bed for hours and hours. If you like Shifters or WEREs goodreads has just the group for you: SHIFTERS. This group is for those readers who like a little bite with their reading! I grew up on a farm. No kidding. I did...complete with cattle, chickens, a passel of kids, and rows of vegetables. So, when I wasn't dodging siblings, feeding animals, or pulling weeds, I was hiding away in my bedroom with a book.
With maturity came love and marriage, and a real understanding of why my parents kept their bedroom door locked. *wink*
Now, I've turned a love of books into a sensual journey through the steamy world of erotic romance. Or is that romantic erotica? Well, one thing's for certain, the heroes and heroines have a great time as they fall in love.
As I live my dream by bringing the characters in my mind to life on the printed page, I want to thank my wonderful husband for his inspiration, support and patience, but most of all for letting me hog the computer!
Anna Leigh
Anna Leigh has been reading and penning romances for as long as she can remember. After she met and married her very own real-life hero, romance took on a whole new meaning.
She now knows married life can sizzle and romance can be 'erotic,' even in her own home.
Now her writing has taken on a spicier flavor, and while hubby's off at work, she lets her imagination soar…
Anna Leigh lives in Canada with her husband. They love to spend time together reading, playing, and traveling.
