The Weekday Brides Series:

I am loving all the covers for this series, the covers are great and so is what you find inside!

Typically when I read a book with the book based on a fake marriage, the couple ultimately fall in love with one another at the end of the book, HEA. Well this was not the case for Single by Saturday, readers don't be alarmed there is romance and the author leaves us with a HEA, it's just not with the couple that is married.  This story has some twists and the author did think outside the box on this plot, Michael and Karen have a marriage of convenience. How hard is it to married to a Hollywood star, and at the end of the contract you can just walk away along with a nice little sum from the divorce settlement. Seems easy, right... Well it did for Karen, until Michael's brother came visiting.. now that is when things get just a bit tough... Your not suppose to get all hot and bothered by your brother-in-law.. I am not telling anymore, you have to read what happens in this little triangle for yourself... Pick up a copy today or better yet, enter the Giveaway below for your chance to win your own copy!

If I can say one part that was difficult for me to read and I almost disliked Michael after reading the scene, is when he went all Rambo on Karen while at the family picnic. I am not a fan of forceful kissing, not when it is not enjoyed by both parties. I know the part was needed in the plot, just made me a bit put off.

As many of you know I read anything and everything by Catherine Bybee. This series is great and I am a firm believer that you need to read the first in the series to capture the essence of this wonderful book..

This man was gorgeous, and if she were one to believe in instant attraction, her body responded to him with a fierceness she didn’t think possible. Maybe this was what the women gazing at Michael experienced that she did not. This wild thrill of discovery that led to possibilities only the big screen could fulfill.

Instead of letting her imagination get the best of her, Karen flattened a hand over her stomach and attempted to act unaffected. “Do I know you?”

The sex personified blue-eyed man stepped toward her. It took effort for her to hold her ground.

Sensing her unease, he held still, looked around the both of them as if noticing the caterers running about and guests arriving behind him, and said simply, “Zach Gardner.”

The smile on her face stayed. The name tickled at the edges of her consciousness. Memories flashed behind the veil of her mind until she narrowed her focus. “Michael’s brother?” she whispered.

Zach gave a small nod and swept his eyes down her frame. When his eyes met hers again, he masked whatever he’d been thinking, then he smiled and said, “And you’re the wife none of us have met.”

Not a lot shook Karen. She’d managed the role of Michael’s wife under the ever-present scrutiny of paparazzi, producers, actors, and fans . . . but the man standing in front of her did what no one else could. He made her question her decision to marry.

The Lure of the Road Trip Romance

There are many popular tropes, or story ideas, in romance novels. Personally, I love them all!
Friends-to-Lovers
Older-Brother’s-Best-Friend
Pretend Marriage
Secret Baby
The Ugly Duckling
The Bodyguard
Road Trip Romance

My newest release, THE ROGUE RETURNS, is a Road Trip Romance. It features a cross-country excursion by horseback and lots of adventure. One of the elements I love about this theme is that the hero and heroine are thrown together and often have to rely on each other for their very survival. There is no going home to their own beds, no running about in their daily lives, and no separating when they are annoyed at one another. They are stuck together, for better or for worse. This makes for some interesting conflict and lively humor.

The other great element of Road Trip Romance is that there are so many opportunities for exciting and unexpected twists in the plot. Throw in a storm, a pair of robbers, an inquisitive pedlar…the possibilities are endless! My debut novel THE RUNAWAY COUNTESS (first in the Nottinghamshire Series) features a lawless heroine who is being held prisoner by the law-abiding hero. Most of the book takes place within the confines of the hero’s estate. I made lots of revisions, attempting to keep the tension high between the hero and heroine as they are having tea, or arguing in his study. While I loved how the book turned out (think LOTS of sexual tension) I really wanted to write a story where every scene was wild and in new location—thus, THE ROGUE RETURNS was born.

I have waited patiently for Roane's story. I first met him in The Runaway Countess, this was Leigh't debut book. If you missed my review catch it here. This story begins after Roane's three year return from isolation. He has paid for his time, now he has plans, big plans and all he needs is the gold he and a friend buried. But it is not as easy as it sounds, you mix in a high spirited woman and missing gold and you have a action packed adventure. As they partner up to follow the clues left by her brother, Roane and Helen start a journey that will be filled with humor, suspense and some very seductive romance. I couldn't have picked a better heroine for our leading man. She is spunky and tenacious.

This is a must read, you don't necessarily need to read the first two in the series, but I think it will help with building the background. Leigh writes characters that are believable and have depth. Why not take the journey with them.... Will Roane give up the girl and walk away when he finds what he is looking for?

Helen felt her face heat and forced herself to stand taller. Mere charm and flirtation were not enough to outmaneuver her. She knew more about rogues than any lady of two and twenty ought to know. “If you think to intimidate me, you will not. I am staying here.”
Roane raked his gaze over her, leaving a trail of unwanted heat on her skin. She anticipated what he would say next. Something about her hair or her complexion or whatnot. She would stop that nonsense before it began. “Your silver tongue will not—“
“There is a spider on your skirts,” he nodded toward her.
“What?” She shrieked and bumped into his chest as she turned side to side. “Where?”
Roane stepped back as she danced in a tight circle, flapping her gown like a flustered hen.
“Where is it?” she cried. “Is it gone?”
“Slow down, let me see.” Taking his time, he leaned forward and made a big show of looking at her skirts. “I think it is gone, but it could have climbed up. Maybe into your hair.”
“Aaak.” She was dancing again, swatting at her shoulders and arms, swiping the back of her neck.
Roane crossed his arms, threw his head back, and let loose loud guffaws of laughter.
Helen stopped her ridiculous hopping and smacked him on his upper arm. His rather solid, muscular arm. “I should know better than to listen to anything you say.” She huffed but again brushed the back of her neck. “Spider, indeed.”
His laughter subsided to chuckles and he shook his head. “You are never going to make it one night in these woods. Spiders are the least of your worries.”
She crossed her arms, mimicking his posture. “Oh no?” Certainly she could endure one uncomfortable night for her share of sixteen thousand pounds. “Watch me.”
