Caelen McCabe's young, reckless heart nearly destroyed his clan. Now, putting family loyalty above all else, he steps up to marry his older brother's jilted bride and salvage the uneasy alliance between two clans. While beautiful Rionna McDonald is a fit wife for any man, Caelen trusts no woman, especially not this sweet temptress who torments him with white-hot longing. As the sacrificial lamb in her father's power game, Rionna will do her duty but vows to protect her heart and her pride from humiliation. Despite everything, though, the heat in Caelen's touch melts her defenses, and she craves the sensual delights of a husband who guards his emotions as fiercely as his clan. But when the ultimate battle for the McCabe legacy is upon them, Rionna's true warrior spirit emerges. She will risk the wrath of her father, the fury of her enemies, and her life to prove to Caelen.
My Thoughts:
This is the final book in the series. Hands down this is my favorite. I have been waiting for Caelen and Rionna’s story I hoped it would be explosive .. It was that and more… I loved every aspect of the book, the plot, the characters , the romance, the battles and the hot, sensual sex scenes…. My kindle was filled with highlights and notes throughout… see below as I added my favorite quotes which made me shiver.

In the first two books, we learned there was an arranged marriage planned between the McCabe and the McDonald’s clan, in order to form an alliance. Rionna McDonald not only got jilted once by the eldest McCabe brother, Ewan, she then was jilted by Alaric. Caelen, the youngest, stepped up to wed Rionna, how could he refuse to do the one thing that would solidify a union that would bring about the destruction of a man hated by him and his brothers.
Rionna is a bold, courageous warrior, doing what she can to keep her clan alive. Caelen, is tormented on a past that threatened his clan, and has closed himself off in exposing his heart again.

Love required sacrifice. It required trust and faith. It required making yourself completely vulnerable to the one you loved. The last time he’d offered a woman his complete trust and faith, she’d destroyed his clan.

The final battle was thrilling, emotional and you couldn't help but keep reading until you knew how it played out. It was the most surprising and tearful ending I have read in along time.
Who knew that Caelen, the rough, grumbly highlander was so romantic, so intense when it came to loving. I know I probably should tell you more of the plot, how Caelen becoming laird of the McDonald’s and how he went about strengthening his new clan for the upcoming fight between Duncam Cameron but it was the scenes between the Caelen and Rionna that kept my attention. Every scene between the two of them was steamy and sensual.

Some of the most memorable, steamy quotes:

Just barely a touch, but it was like a streak of lightning. Hot. His toes even tingled as if they’d been dipped in fire.

“Just let go, lass. You’re fighting the inevitable. I won’t hurt you, I swear it. ‘Twill feel good. Relax now and let me love you.”

“How close are you to your woman’s pleasure, wife?” ‘Tis not important,” she whispered against his mouth. ‘Tis your pleasure that is important this night.” “Your pleasure is my pleasure,” he murmured back. Oh, but the man knew exactly how to pierce a woman’s heart.

… “I love you,” he said fiercely. ” ‘Tis not true that I kept a part of my heart locked away from you. You own all of it, lass. You’ve always owned it. I didn’t give it to you. You took it from the very start.”

"I’ll love you until I draw my last breath and beyond. You were made for me. I cannot imagine a more perfect mate.”

“I love you, lass. There is not a single part of my heart or soul that you do not own.”
Ah, lass, I think I have always loved you, for ‘tis the truth I cannot ever remember a time I didn’t.
If you have read the first two books in this series, In Bed with a Highlander and Seduction of a Highland Lass, this is a must read. I am sorry to see the storyline end. Maya Banks did a wonderful job with her highlander series and she left me wanting to see more of these brawny and sensual Scottish men.

My Rating:
