My Thoughts:
Kate peaked my curiosity in the previous book, there was a passage in the book and after reading it I knew I must read her story... "For all the nights she’d spent weeping into her pillow in that drafty, austere attic dormitory, pleading and bargaining with God for a mother of her own … Occasionally, Mrs. Highwood’s behavior made Kate thankful for unanswered prayers. Not all mothers were blessings, apparently."

I loved this book, it was a page turner for me. I loved the snippy banter between Kate and Thorne. When I began learning snippets of Kate's life as a child, my heart broke. Thorne was complexed, he was always grumbling or negative in previous books, but his character was much more than that!

Thorne saved Kate's life as a young girl and in turn, despite everything that Thorne did to turn Kate away, Kate's love for Thorne stayed strong, giving him the courage and strength to love in return. This was a wonderful romance and I loved watching their love develop.

Whatever soul I had, Katie, I think I placed it in your keeping twenty years ago. And now, it's as if... every time we kiss, you give me a little piece of it back.

This book can be read without having read the others in the series, but why miss out, I recommend you read them all! I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Tessa Dare is a writer that will always appear on my bookshelf.
