The Danger
In Tempting An Earl
At The
Kingsborough Ball
By: Sophie Barnes
Releasing July 29th, 2014
Avon Romance
Lucien Marvaine never thought he was good enough for Katherine. As the younger son of an earl, he didn’t have a title or prospects. Then fate steps in and gives him a second chance, and this new Earl of Roxbury is determined to make the beautiful Kate his own . . . one touch . . . one kiss at a time.
Katherine never
thought of herself as a temptress, certainly not with Lucien. Why, she’s known
him almost all her life! Yet as she waltzes in Lucien’s arms at the
Kingsborough Ball, she can’t help but be drawn to him. Has he always been this
hard and masculine? And where did those dimples come from? Kate is not looking
for a husband . . . but how can she not surrender to Lucien’s charms when love
is at stake?
What’s next?
-The Evermore
Chronicles-
It felt a little strange saying good bye to the characters
I’d devoted so much time to during the writing of the Kingsborough Ball series.
I’ve loved all of them, just as I’ve loved the Summersbys and the Rutherford
sisters before them. When I submitted my final edits for The Danger In Tempting An Earl, I felt a void looming before me.
What now? I’d completed my contract with Avon and was faced with the task of
coming up with a new idea for another series and then submitting a proposal. I
present to you, the Evermore Chronicles.
As with the Kingsborough Ball, it’s the setting that ties
the books in this new series together, along with a large family comprised of
seven siblings and their parents, the Earl and Countess of Camberly. But while
the Kingsborough Ball focused on revisiting one splendid evening seen from
different points of view, the Evermore Chronicles focuses on three months spent
at the grand Evermore Manor – an estate turned guest house for the elite, with
plenty of secrets hidden within its walls.
Inspired by the series Love Boat but taking place on land,
I’ve built a world that provides the perfect setting for any blooming romance,
complete with a maze, a Japanese pavilion, a frigate on the lake where dinners
are occasionally held, a crystal grotto, secret passageways and themed salons.
The hostess, Lady Duncaster, was a bit of a rebel in her youth (there’s going
to be a novella about her and how she met her husband as well). She and her
husband, the Earl of Duncaster travelled a great deal collecting artifacts from
all over the world which have been used to decorate Evermore.
As you’ve probably gathered by now, each book in the series
will follow one of the Camberly children as they meet their match and fall
irrevocably in love. Their characters are as unique and quirky as always and
have been given a large supporting cast of friends and enemies alike, who also
wish to enjoy the luxury Evermore has to offer. Murder, conspiracies, and a secret
treasure, are just a few of the intrigues you can look forward to when the
first book in this series hits the shelves.
Born in Denmark,
Sophie Barnes spent her youth traveling with her parents to wonderful places
all around the world. She's lived in five different countries, on three
different continents, and speaks Danish, English, French, Spanish, and
Romanian. But, most impressive of all, she's been married to the same man three
times—in three different countries and in three different dresses.
When she's not busy
dreaming up her next romance novel, Sophie enjoys spending time with her
family, swimming, cooking, gardening, watching romantic comedies and, of course,
reading.
