When Good Earls Go Bad:
A Victorian Valentine’s Day Novella
Dukes Behaving Badly # 1.5
By: Meghan Frampton
Releasing February 3rd, 2015

Megan Frampton’s Dukes Behaving Badly series is back, though this time it’s an earl who’s meeting his match in this delightfully fun and sexy novella!

What’s a lovely young woman doing asleep in his bed? Matthew, Earl of Selkirk, is shocked to discover it’s his new housekeeper! She’s a far cry from the gray-haired woman he expected. Matthew is no fan of surprises, and Annabelle Tyne is pure temptation. Perhaps he shouldn’t have had her hired sight unseen.

Annabelle, co-owner of the Quality Employment Agency, is no housekeeper, but she wasn’t about to lose a potential client simply because there was no one to fit the bill. Imagine her shock when the Earl arrives at his London townhome and she’s awoken in the night by the most attractive man she’s ever seen.

Matthew is a man who lives life by the rules, but sometimes rules are made to be broken…and being bad can be very, very good.
I liked this book as much as I enjoyed the first in the series,  The Duke's Guide to Correct Behavior.
This was a beautiful sweet historical romance novella. The story was lighthearted and whimsical. I would recommend this to all those historical romance lovers. It's the perfect book to pick up on the chilly winter nights. I consider this a stand alone, but I recommend you pick up the first book if you haven't already read it. I am looking forward to reading the next one in the series, Put UpYour Duke, which comes out in June.
Megan Frampton writes historical romance under her own name and romantic women’s fiction as
Megan Caldwell. She likes the color black, gin, dark-haired British men, and huge earrings, not in that order. She lives in Brooklyn, NY, with her husband and son.

Where Secrets Smolder...

Calm. Cool. Collected. Gisele Whitby has perfected the art of illusion—her survival, after all, has depended upon it. Years ago, to escape an abusive husband, Gisele "disappeared." Now she must risk revealing her new identity to save another innocent girl from the same fate. But she needs a daring man for her scheme, and the rogue in question shows a remarkable talent . . . for shattering Gisele's carefully constructed façade and igniting her deepest desires.

...Passion Ignites.

This isn't the first time Jamie Montcrief has awakened naked and confused from a night of drinking. It is, however, the first time a stunningly beautiful woman offers him payment afterward. Gisele has a business proposition for him, a mission involving cunning thievery and a brazen rescue. How can he say no to a plot this dangerous . . . and a woman this delectable?

Kelly Bowen grew up in Manitoba, Canada. She worked her way through her teenage years as a back country trail guide and ranch hand. She attended the University of Manitoba and earned a Master of Science degree in veterinary physiology and endocrinology.
But it was Kelly's infatuation with history and a weakness for a good love story that led her down the path of historical romance. When she is not writing, she seizes every opportunity to explore ruins and battlefields.
Currently, Kelly lives in Winnipeg with her husband and two boys, all of whom are wonderfully patient with the writing process. Except, that is, when they need a goalie for street hockey.

Excerpt
Well, shit.  He deserved that.  “Who are you?”
She smiled at him, the first genuine smile he had seen, and it did strange things to his chest.
“I am… just Gisele.”
That was helpful.  He knew nothing more about her than he knew last night.  Annoyance bubbled up again.  “Very well then Just-Gisele, since you won’t tell me anything useful about yourself, would you be so kind as to enlighten me as to what it is you’d like me to do should I accept your generous offer of employment?”
Her smile turned brittle.  “Not yet.”
“Not yet?”  Jamie’s eyebrows shot up to his hairline.  “How the hell am I supposed to make a decision based on not yet?”
The ice queen shrugged.  “You’ll have to trust me.”
Jamie closed his eyes, fighting for patience.  “Will I need to steal something?”
Unlikely.”
Kill someone?
“Hopefully not.”
“Blow something up?”
“You’re familiar with explosives?”
His eyes popped open at the undisguised interest in her last question.   What the hell kind of woman used the word explosives the way most used the word marmalade?  Or teapot?

WILL A FEW FLIRTATIOUS STEPS
Harry Norcliffe never wanted to inherit his beloved uncle's title. The rigidity of the ton, the incessant reminders from his marriage-minded mama that he must settle down with a highborn lady and produce an heir and a spare: it's all such a dreadful bore. So when his mother asks him to take part in a dancing competition, he patently refuses. The last thing he needs is another chore . . . until a beautiful, brilliant, delightfully tempting maid makes him rethink his position.

LEAD TO A SCANDALOUS SEDUCTION?
Most women would be over the moon to be pursued by a wickedly handsome-not to mention wealthy-duke like Norcliffe. But Lucy will not be any man's trophy. She could use a friend, though, and what begins innocently soon ignites into desire. As Lucy tries to resist Harry's scorching kisses, he makes an utterly irresistible offer. Enter the dance contest with him, and win a prize that could change her life forever . . . if falling in love doesn't change it first.

He took off his coat and went to tend the fire. His wide shoulders needed no padding. When he rose and dusted his hands, she noted his superior height once again. In his waistcoat and shirtsleeves, she could discern the way his waist tapered.

He joined her on the sofa and laid his arm across the top of it. “Tired?” he asked.

“No.” She was too aware of him. In the shadowy room, she could not see his bright blue eyes, but the soft sound of his breathing mingled with hers. The tension between them crackled all around her. A long moment suspended. Her senses were heightened, and her breasts felt heavier for some odd reason. She discerned the scent of wintergreen soap and something else—something masculine and irresistible.Something unique to him.

He leaned closer, and she could feel the whisper of his breath on her lips. “From the first moment we met, I could not get you out of my head.”

His words made her feel giddy, but she held back, because she was still a little wary. “I am undoubtedly the first woman to threaten you with a knife.”

He grinned. “Indeed you are. Now that you are unarmed, perhaps we could be friends.”

“We will shake on it,” she said, offering her hand.

He took her hand and turned her wrist, palm up. He looked up at her beneath his dark lashes, and then he kissed the tender underside of her wrist. When he touched his tongue to the pulse point, her breath shuddered out of her. She thought she might melt from the heat in his seductive gaze.
“I’d better go,” he said. There was a knowing look in his eyes, as if he was aware of exactly how he’d affected her.

When she inhaled on a shaky breath, he helped her to rise. She walked with him to the door as if she were enveloped in a fog.

He halted and gazed into her eyes. Then he drew her in his arms and kissed her gently on the lips. His mouth moved over hers and his hand slipped down the curve of her spine. Heat and longing surged inside her. He wrapped his arms around her, and she could feel the hard, unyielding muscles of his arms, chest, and thighs as he pressed her against him.

“Forgive me in advance,” he said.

“For what?” she whispered.

He kissed her gently once more, and then he drew his tongue along the seam of her mouth. Her lips parted and then his tongue was in her mouth, tasting her while his hands slid down her spine and to her bottom. He pulled her flush against him, and she could feel his hard body. She was breathing faster and everything inside of her was on fire for him. God help her, she wanted his hands all over her.

He broke the kiss, and she was aware that his breathing had quickened as well.

When he released her, he said, “Good night, sweet Lucy.”

Her limbs trembled a little as he strode out into the night, leaving her to wonder if he knew it was her first kiss.

She dances on the edge of life…and death

Not all are meant to walk in the light. Marine Corps Sergeant Khat Shinwari lives among the shadows of the rocky Afghani hills, a Shadow Warrior by name and by nature. She works alone, undercover and undetected—until a small team of US Navy SEALs are set upon by the Taliban…and Khat is forced to disobey orders to save their lives.

To go rogue.

Now, hidden deep in the hills with injured SEAL Michael Tarik in her care, Khat learns that he's more than just a soldier. In him, she sees something of herself and of what she could be. Now duty faces off against the raw, overwhelming attraction she has for Mike. And she must decide between the safety of the shadows…and risking everything by stepping into the light.
Creating the Military Romance Genre

I served in the US Navy, proud to serve my country.  Both sides of my family have a long service in the military and it was expected that I would also go in.  I was a Petty Officer Aerographer’s Mate Third Class.  A fancy name for a weather forecaster.  I was in the “air” part of the US Navy and never served aboard ship.  The old writing adage, “write what you know,” applies to me.  I was in the military. I’m going to write on military topics and fiction.

I originated and created this sub-genre of the military romance for the romance publishing industry back in 1983, Silhouette Special Edition, CAPTIVE OF FATE.  Until that time, there were no stories about military heroes.  I went on to also create the 3-book series concept in mid-1990’s via Silhouette, too.  And I had to write two series (Kincaid and Travis series) before Silhouette decided to take a chance on the concept.  You can go to: http://lindsaymckenna.com/book-series/ to find all my series, including these two pre-series before my publisher decided to take a chance on the concept of tying three books together consecutively with inter-connection between all of them.

And when they did finally take this giant new step in a new direction, the FIRST series (romantic military suspense) came out as Love and Glory. The three books were the story of the Trayhern children:  Morgan, Noah and Alyssa Trayhern.  They are world famous today.  And, I continue to write about the Trayhern family children now.  This is the longest, most continuous family saga in the romance industry.

TAKING FIRE, a book in the Shadow Warriors series, is specifically about women in combat.  It should be no surprise women can be good Marines, soldiers, airmen or sailors when it comes to combat billets and roles.   There is a certain kind of woman who can deal with it.  There have always been womenin wartime situations since the dawn of time.  It just doesn’t get emphasized enough and US Marine Corps Sergeant Khatereh Shinwari, is one of those women.  She’s a Marine sniper, trained by one of the best schools in the world, and she had the courage, heart and endurance to go deep under cover black ops.  Daily, she risks her life for the Afghan people and to keep other US forces safe from ambush and attack.  She is heroic and walks the blade between life and death.  Her reasons are powerful for what she undertakes and confronts daily.  And when Navy SEAL Mike Tarik unexpectedly drops into her secret life in the Hindu Kush Mountains, he offers her something that she didn’t see coming.

Lindsay McKenna is proud to have served her country in the U.S. Navy as an aerographer’s mate third class—also known as a weather forecaster. She is one of the original founders of the military romance subgenre and loves to combine heart-pounding action with soulful and poignant romance. Her latest book is the romantic suspense Taking Fire.

Interview With Luke Dawson from "The Trouble With Mistletoe"

FBL- “Welcome to the blog Luke.”

Luke- “Thank you for having me.”

FBL: “First, let me say-I think you broke a lot of hearts when you and Victoria reunited after all those years apart.”

Luke laughs- “Victoria has always been the one for me.”

FBL:- “So you were happy when she came back to town to buy out your sporting goods store?”

Luke- “It was the worst case of mixed emotions-I was happy that she was back in town and for the chance to show her the life she left behind and hopefully change her mind, but the fact that we had to go head to head over the store left me conflicted.”

FBL- “The store meant a lot to you?”

Luke-“The sporting goods store was a landmark in the community, a piece of Brookhollow history. It wasn’t just a store. It housed our local team trophies and memorabilia from Don Jamieson’s time in the NFL.”

FBL- “But in the end, Victoria meant more?”

Luke- “Always.”

FBL- “What is it about her that made you realize she was the one?”

Luke- “I love her determination and her strength and the fact that she’s open to taking risks and facing challenges. Of course, she’s beautiful and smart, but the fire in her is what draws me in.”

FBL- “So, just when you think things are going well…she’s opening up, you both are reconnecting…You leave her stranded in New York-what was that about?”

Luke- “Not my proudest moment, I admit…but man, that woman can make me crazy.” Laughs.“When I heard her say that everything we had going on was all just about securing the deal to buy the store-it killed me…I couldn’t spend the next three hours in the truck with her.”

FBL- “Then as fate would have it-you end up stranded on the highway?”

Luke- “Karma, I guess.”

FBL- “But in the end, it worked out.”

Luke- “Thankfully, yes.”

FBL- “When Victoria came back the third time-did you believe this time was for good?”

Luke- “You know, I can’t say I still entirely believe that. Vic loves New York, but the thing is-I love her…so if she ever gets the urge to flee again-I’m going with her.”

FBL- “Well thank you Luke. We appreciate you being here today.”

Luke- “Thanks for hosting me.”

Thanks for stopping by Luke, I know your fans loved getting up close and personal with you.
