When widower and land baron Cole Reardon acquired the Turner Grain Corporation, he didn't know the company sponsored a bull rider. He refuses to support thrill-seekers dumb enough to get on the back of a crazed animal. He’s not willing to risk his fortune and livelihood when he has his daughter's well-being to consider. Not even when the bull rider is the sexiest woman he's ever seen.
Bull rider Florentine McDougal plans to turn pro after the season championship, fulfilling her lifelong dream of succeeding in a man’s world. That is, until Cole Reardon shows up and threatens to break his sponsorship contract with her. Now everything she’s worked for is less than eight seconds away from being destroyed.
Cole distracts Florentine with his sexy mouth and unreasonable demands, and he's not going to compromise his integrity. But she's not going to let him loose until she has pro status. And neither will come away from this dust-up unscathed.
My Thoughts
This is the fourth book in the Sisters of McDougal Ranch series.
Florentine is a strong–minded yet filled with compassion, she has always dreamed of becoming a champion bull rider, despite it being a man's sport, her father and family have supported her in her quest. She one day hopes to be an inspiration to other young girls to encourage them to follow their dream, no matter what obstacles they may face. Still mourning after her father's passing, Florentine is still determined to prove that she can be a top "female" competitor in the sport. All looked promising until she came face to face with her worst challenge ever- Cole.
Cole had a mission, he was determined to get out of sponsoring female daredevil, Florentine McDougal. Cole is a single dad, it was hard enough raising Sarah on his own, he didn't want t the added responsibility of endorsing Florentine's reckless behavior.
Definitely, Florentine is my favorite sister so far, a wonderful heroine, strong and courageous. I loved her drive, her determination, but besides all that she had a loving heart, she cared about people and wanted a family. There were many touching moments between her and Sarah, where you can see Florentine's character develop, she was a nuturing soul, giving love but also wanting to be loved.
This book was more than my mear words can explain. Debra's did a wonderful job in creating characters whose dreams, sorrow and joys make them real. The romance was hot and sexy, too!! I hope Debra Kayn continues to write more stories like this, very inspiring. Bravo to Ms. Kayn and can't wait to read Bisette's story.
Thanks to the publisher and author for the ARC in exchange for this honest review.
