It Wednesday, so it is another addition of "In the Spotlight", where I invite a fellow blogger over to answer a few questions. Today we are being joined by Lisa from Seeking with all Yur Heart.
I met Lisa from Book Blogs. Thanks so much for going us today!!
When and how did you decide to become a book blogger?
I
decided to start a blog in May of 2011. I
decided to become a book blogger for two reasons:
1)
I love reading books.
2)
I knew I would be home a lot with caretaking
responsibilities.
What’s the hardest part of being a book blogger?
The
hardest part is finding followers and learning the different nuances of
building a blog.
Tell us about your blog, Seeking with all Yur Heart.
This
is born from a desire to encourage readers to read and to read good books. I want to communicate with women and to especially
be thinking about what they are reading.
How many followers do you have? How often do you post to your blog?
I have almost 90 now, but I want to really
grow my base of followers. I usually try to post three times a week
minimum.
Who are your three favorite authors?
Ted
Dekker, Francine
Rivers and Donna
Fletcher Crow
Which author would you most like to meet (dead or
alive)? Tell us more…
I
would like to meet Donna Fletcher Crow. Her
writings are based on a great deal of research as well as traveling to the
places she writes about. Donna’s
writings are so interesting because she includes so much detail.
How big is your TBR pile?
How many books do you read/review in a month?
For
the first time since I began, I have about 10 books waiting for attention. I am working on finding new authors, latest
books and interesting genres to read. I
then locate and contact whomever I can to get information regarding blogging,
books, as well as authors.
Finally, if someone wrote a biography about you, what do you
think the title should be?
She
Never Quit Learning

The
Autobiography of a Blogger
By:
Lisa Johnson
The third of
five children and youngest girl, I was born in Blue Island, Illinois, on March
23, 1961. I was active in sports and
never played with dolls because I preferred to not to do so. My family expected that I would be the last
of my siblings to get married and have children, if at all; however,
ironically, I was the first to do both.
I was raised in the Catholic faith, but I did
not realize that religion and true faith are not the same things until I turned
to Christ Jesus and accepted his gift of salvation at the age of 19. During my college years, I was active in
Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship as a student leader
I received an
Associate of Arts in Business Administration from Moraine Valley Community
College and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Illinois State
University.
I grew up with a
retarded sister, and I have always had a passion for people with emotional and
mental challenges. I did volunteer work
with mentally retarded individuals for a time, and I later worked as a social
worker in a group home for emotionally disturbed teenage boys.
I met my future
husband in October 1986 at an Inter-Varsity weekend event, and we developed a
fast friendship. By mid-December of the
same year, we were engaged. Although we
had known each other for a short time at time of our engagement, we spent about
a year and a half, eight months of that living three hours away from each
other, getting to know each other before we married in May, 1988. Our first son was born in July 1989, and our
second son came along in November 1993.
My husband,
having dropped out of college before we had met, went back to school a few
years later to complete his Bachelor of Arts in religious studies. He then received his Master of Arts in English. During that time, I homeschooled our two sons
while supporting my husband in his education.
Homeschooling
was a new concept for me, but I had several friends who also educated their
children at home, so I had access to several resources and supporters. Our oldest son is now in college as a
marketing major, and our youngest is working toward completing high school at
home.
I am an avid
reader who enjoys westerns, Christian fiction and nonfiction, biographies,
historical fiction, and several other genres.
The only genres I do not enjoy are paranormal, science fiction, and
fantasy stories with The Chronicles of
Narnia and my husband’s fantasy novella as exceptions. I also read and study the Bible in depth,
which has provided several opportunities to develop classes and lead
discipleship studies with groups and individuals at church. I love the in-depth research to help me
develop my faith. In addition, I read
historical journals about the Civil War and other historical events.
In 2011, I
started a blog—Seeking with all Yur Heart—where
I share my heart on matters of faith as well as review a variety of books that
I have read. I am constantly looking for
good books to read, review, and share with others. Many of the books I read, I share with family
and close friends, making recommendations and sharing insight (after they read
it for themselves!). I recently read and
reviewed four books in less than a week, and they were not short books! I am frequently amazed at the writing talents
of the many authors I have read.
