In the Spotlight ~ It's All About Me

Today we are welcoming Heather from "It's All About Me".  Don't you just love the name of her blog?   The background graphics of her blog are nature inspired, very peaceful.

Welcome Heather!!!

When and how did you decide to become a book blogger?
I've been blogging for a while. I started this particular blog back in January 2004. Somewhere along the way, I began to blog about the books I read and how I felt about them. There was a time there that I stepped away from blogging altogether as it became harder to do so with full-time work and 3 young children. Now, I'm back into the swing of things. I started writing reviews again in October (or so) of 2011. I decided to do so because I love reading!

So far, what's the hardest part about being a book blogger?
Ever since I signed up to a few different book tour sites and started following other bloggers, there have been several opportunities to read and review several books. There are just so many out there that it is hard to decide which tours I want to participate! There are so many books out there and so little time!

Takes My Breath Away #5

Today I am happy to welcome a friend from goodreads, you may recognize her as she stops by frequently at Forever Book Lover and comments using the pen name BlackTulip. Well this month, she was kind enough to submit some quotes, that simply Takes Your Breath Away.

"I have 3 recent and 1 very old ; this very old one took my breath away 30 years ago when I was at university studying British literature." BlackTulip

Let me not to marriage of true minds admit impediments ~       Sonnet 116

Love is not love Which alters when it alteration finds, Or bends with the remover to remove: O no! it is an ever-fixed mark That looks on tempests and is never shaken; It is the star to every wandering bark, Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken. Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks Within his bending sickle's compass come: Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks, But bears it out even to the edge of doom. If this be error and upon me proved, I never writ, nor no man ever loved.   ~William Shakespeare

"It's totally timeless ... nothing is better than these Sonnets !!!"  BlackTulip

Do you believe in love, Arran?

When I look into your eyes, darling, when I hold you in my arms, when I pretend reality can be changed and I'm allowed to have my heart's desire...then, yes, I believe in love.
~ The Devil of Jedburgh - Claire Robyns

He would let her go when the time came. What he couldn't do, what he didn't have the strength for, was to let her go without leaving a part of him with her, stamped upon her body, heart, mind and soul. Whenever she thought about the first awakenings of her body to the sensual pleasures of love, it would be the taste and feel of his lips on hers, his arms she recalled wrapped around her.

The Devil of Jedburgh - Claire Robyns

He tipped her chin to him, and the tears he saw filling her eyes tore at his gut. He was doing it all wrong. "Ye are all I am, all I'll ever be. Without ye, I am naught. Open yer heart ta me, wife, give me another chance ta be the man ye deserve."
Betrayed - Claire Robyns

First, I must apologize, I am running behind in announcing the winners of the recent giveaways I had.  IT has been a busy week for me, as I just relocated and started a new job, and the hard part is that I have limited internet access so my blog has been on auto pilot for the last week.

So let's get to announcing the winner of Leigh LaValle's  eBook copy of The Runaway Countess .

She Tells All Blog Tour ~ Interview and Review~ Judah Lee

Today we have Judah Lee Davis, author of She Tells All, joining us. She is stopping by on her virtually tour with CLP Blog Tours! Her tour runds March 19 - March 26, here's a link to all the tour stops.

FBL ♥: Have you always had this exuberant sense of humor?
Absolutely not. Believe it or not I was the world’s most uptight, type-A drama queen, cheerleading diva in high school. I never left home without make-up. I worked out two hours a day. If I ate two Oreos, I immediately barfed them up. I didn’t think Chris Rock standup or the Austin Powers series was funny in the least. It was like I had a permanent pom-pom stuck up my butt.

Shortly after having a nervous breakdown in college (which isn’t surprising in light of the unattainable standards I held myself to) I got in with the wrong crowd, killed off 90 percent of my brain cells, and finally got a sense of humor. I’m not recommending that anyone try this method at home, but have you ever met someone so uptight that you’d like to highly recommend they become an alcoholic? That was me.

In the Spotlight ~ "Another Author"

It Wednesday, so it is another addition of "In the Spotlight", where I invite a fellow blogger over to answer a few questions. Today we are being joined by Abhishek from 'Another Author'.

I met Abhisnek from Book Blogs. Thanks so much for going us today!!

Tell us a little about your blog and about your blog name, Another Author.
The blog Another Author is about books, book reviews, authors, creative writing, plots and other finer aspects of literature. After reading quite a good number of books, I felt I can tell a story or two well, I wanted to become an Author too *though I am still trying hard*. Actually I felt becoming an Author is like becoming a prince. So the blog-url says becomingprince.blogspot.com and was earlier known by the name Becoming Prince. Later on, I rechristened it as Another Author.

When and how did you decide to become a book blogger?
From childhood I was interested in making a show, living in spot-light all the time. When I was in college I needed a reason to improve my writing skills and I tried many a things like essay writing, flash fiction writing and then decided blogging is the best thing I can opt for. Why blogging? Simple you have an awesome support group read the entire Blog-O-Sphere* to keep you motivated. What to blog upon? Books for they were and are my best buddies.

Tumbleweed Heights Tour ~ Interview and Review ~ Joan Bird

Today I have the pleasure of welcoming Joan Bird, author of the contemporary romance novel, Tumbleweed Heights (Boroughs Publishing Group), as she virtually tours the blogosphere February 6 – March 23 2012 on her first virtual book tour with Pump Up Your Book!  Stop by for a bit and chat with Joan !!
FBL ♥: When did you first consider yourself a writer?
As long as I can remember I was writing songs, poems and stories. It started, to the best of my recollection, with my first stubby pencil and those fabulously fat dotted-lined sheets of paper in the first grade. When I was ten I submitted a poem to the local paper and it was published.

FBL ♥: What inspired you to write your first book?
I really have no idea. I can say, unequivocally, that until I had a writing group, I had no true commitment to the process, as in "finishing" a book. I had five partial books, two half-books and one practically whole book when our writing group began. It took the insight and dedicated constructive criticism of my first two writing group members and two-plus years of weekly meetings with my stalwart critique partner for me to find my way to "the end" of several books.

A Perfect Storm ~ Lori Foster

A Perfect Storm (Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor #4)
by Lori Foster
Publisher: Harlequin
Published Date: March 27, 2012

Review courtesy of netGalley

He never saw her coming…

Spencer Lark already knows too many secrets about Arizona Storm, including the nightmare she survived and her resulting trust issues. But in order to expose a smuggling ring—and continue avenging his own tragic past—the bounty hunter reluctantly agrees to make Arizona a decoy. Yet nothing has equipped him for her hypnotic blend of fragility and bravery, or for the protective instincts she stirs in him.

Arizona wants to reclaim her life, which means acting as bait to lure the enemy into a trap. Sure it's dangerous, especially with a partner as distractingly appealing as Spencer. But as their plan—and their chemistry—shifts into high gear, Arizona may discover there's an even greater risk in surrendering her heart to a hero…
My Thoughts:

Just need a few moments to fan myself after reading this book. Lori Foster has a way creating these Alpha Men that just melts me away. Spencer is that and more, the big strong man who suffered a devastating loss, he is hesitant to open his heart again. Our heroine, Arizona, she has had a wicked terrible past. Ms. Foster gives us just enough details that we can figure it out what horrific events Arizona had to deal with. She is a survivor and wants to rid the world of human traffickers.  What started as a way to protect and watch over Arizona, Spencer slowly opens his heart to allow Arizona to slip in and chip away at the hard barrier he has placed around it. Arizona, also toys with the fact that she can be loved and she can love others. It was a beautiful moving story, bringing back characters from the previous books in the series.  Ms. Foster did a wonderful job building the main characters. This is the fourth in the series, for me having read the previous books provided enough insight for this story.  Bravo to Ms. Foster for tackling a difficult subject by bringing attention to the crime of human trafficking; awareness is the first step to eradicating modern slavery! Well Done!!

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

My Rating:

The Author:

The only thing diminutive about bestselling novelist Lori Foster is her size. At 5’3,” she’s not exactly tiny, but the only family members she towers over these days are her toddler grandson and Tootsie, their Chihuahua, and their cats. Everything else she does is supersized, from her commitment to having her work published and the standards she has set for her writing, to her philanthropy, love of family and her joy in helping others. Even her characters are larger-than-life—alpha men and women who break boundaries and bring passion to everything they do.

Lori’s mighty imposing herself, undoubtedly possessed of more than her share of alpha traits and energy. She never gave up on her desire to see her work in print, completing ten novels before her first book, Impetuous, was sold and then published in 1996. She’s maintained a hectic pace, often writing six or more novels a year. She first hit national bestseller lists with Jamie in 2005. Now,her novels, and anthologies featuring her work, have claimed a combined 115 weeks on The New York Times, USA Today and Publishers Weekly bestseller lists. Hard to Handle was number two on the New York Times’ list. She’s been honored with the RT Book Reviews Career Achievement Award for both Contemporary Romance and Series Romantic Fantasy...more

Guest Post, Review and Giveaway ~ Leigh LaValle ~ The Runaway Countess

Today, Leigh LaValle is stopping by Forever Book Lover. She asked if I would be interested in reading her debut book, The Runaway Countess and stopping over for a guest post. I agreed to both!!  Once I read the book and saw the topic of her guest post, I knew it was going to be a fun post!  Enjoy Everyone!

Thanks for having me here at Forever Book Lover, Kat. I’m excited to chat with you all about a topic I particularly enjoy- the legend of Robin Hood! What book lover doesn’t appreciate a sexy hero who fights for the common man; who is skilled at archery, swordplay and disguise; AND who is a hot lover to his woman, Maid Marian?

Tales of Robin Hood date back to the 13th century. The origins of the legend are greatly debated. Some historians are certain Robin Hood is a mythical figure, while others are convinced he was a real person. Scholars point to different outlaws in history, from yeoman to aristocrats, as being the real Robin Hood. Whether fact or fiction, Robin Hood is a character who has captured our imagination for eight hundred years.

I love the Robin Hood legend so much that I chose it as a theme for my Regency debut, THE RUNAWAY COUNTESS. I decided to give myself a challenge while writing this book, however, and I don’t retell the story exactly as we are familiar. Oh, there is a character who ‘steals from the rich to give to the poor’. But, rather than making Robin Hood the focus of this tale, I chose the evil Sherriff of Nottingham as my sexy hero.

Maintaining the romance in a blended family

Falling in love when you are older quite often means that one or both of you comes with a ready-made family, and when the decision is made to marry or move in together, you get all the joys and challenges of blending two families under the one roof.

I'm in that exact situation myself. My partner of seven years and I finally decided to move in together just over a year ago, and we subsequently sold our individual homes and bought a place together, with my two teenage children and his young adult son, and as an occasional visitor, his daughter. (And my cat, of course!).

In the Spotlight ~ Jennifer Diaries

This week of "In the Spotlight", we have a unique feature, today we have Jennifer from The Jennifer (Author) Diaries, not only is Jennifer a blogger but she is an author, I hope you enjoy reading about her journey..

Welcome Jennifer!!

This is a first, you are a blogger plus an author, tell us more about 'The Jennifer (Author) Diaries':
First of all, I’d like to thank Kat for interviewing me today. The Jennifer (Author) Diaries is blog I created to set a personal challenge for myself to do one thing per day to promote my novel, The Pet Washer. It’s become a resource center, not only for me, but for other authors. I share everything I’m learning about book and blog promotion on my site. My focus is on low-cost and free ways to promote books and blogs. I encourage other writers to join me and take up the 366 day challenge to break out and beyond their inner circle!

Tell us how you come up with a topic for 366 days? Do you have them listed in advance or are you inspired with a new topic each day?
It’s a combination of both. I have a lot of ideas and I jot them down in a Word file. Each morning I decide what I’m going to do after I’ve had my coffee! I’m either inspired or I comb through my list of ideas and look for one to implement that day. There are days it is challenging and days I don’t want to do it—it’s like a diet!

You Can’t – or Can You – Go Home Again

What is it about High School Reunions that make some of us shudder and others rub their hands together with glee?

Depending upon which camp you fell into – OMG I so like cried about not seeing everyone every day for the rest of my existence OR I can’t wait to get away from these lepers and get on with my life – reunions can evoke some pretty intense emotions.

Uh-oh. Did someone say emotions? As in feelings? Remember them, they ran rampant during our teenage years. Over-active hormones reduced each of us to no more than throbbing glands. Brains took a backseat, as in a parked car at the end of a secluded street, to all things physical. We gushed, we squealed, we jumped in place and grabbed each other’s hands just because Brody Evans walked by and smiled at Mary Ellen in the cafeteria.

We gave little thought to anything of consequence, but remembered the words to every top ten song, knew which friend had the closet we most wanted to raid and who was dating whom when. True, many of us studied our butts off when no one was looking, but when we walked the halls, we were united in the sameness that gave us comfort and hid behind the mask of solidarity our cliques demanded.

In the cold light of adulthood, where Bank of America doesn’t give a rat’s patootie if you had the longest straightest hair of all your friends, returning to those yesterdays can seem a bit daunting.

However, prom queens with clear skin and perky attributes that seemed destined to travel a golden path often surprise the former goth outsiders whose weekly visits to the Dermo were detested beyond measure. Twenty years later the kid who dared to be different wound up being bold enough to start her own company while Buffy spends her days searching for her former glory at the bottom of a gin bottle.

Mostly Reunions invite those who had happy memories to reconnect with old friends and, for a few hours, wallow in the glow that made up our teenage years. For some, whose memories are more like scars, revisiting the past is not a trip they want to take. We don’t see these people at reunions and more’s the pity. Wouldn’t it be lovely to sit down with the nerd that used to wear a pocket protector and find out what he did with his life? Don’t be surprised when he turns out to be the head of Neurosurgery for a major teaching hospital.

Now isn’t that the stuff of Romance novels?

Thanks to Kat for inviting me to guest blog on her site; cheers to all her followers. Let’s keep up with one another. You can find me at Website | Twitter | Facebook.

Jake and Angie’s twentieth high school reunion sets the perfect stage for their lifelong friends to reunite the former sweethearts. Major roadblock – they have to trick Angie into coming home after twenty years. An elaborate ruse ensues at the same time they work on browbeating Jake into attending.

Maneuvering through emotional minefields rates a 10 for difficulty level, particularly when Angie lives the maxim: Time does not heal all wounds. And Jake? Check the Wiki pic next to Pride comes before the fall. Yep, that’s him tripping all over himself year after year.

But the firm conviction that these two were meant to be together propels a cast of quirky, determined friends into action. When tragedy derails the best laid plans, will Jake and Angie’s love rise to the occasion?
The summary peaked my interest, but it was the wonderful storytelling that won me over. This was more than boy meet girl, boy fallings in love with girl, and then he breaks her heart!!  Oh, no this is much more than that. This is a heart wrenching story of two souls meant to be together, but thru their own faults they are kept apart. It isn't until a childhood friend, says enough is enough and with the help of family and friends they devise a plan on bringing these two back together. It wasn't as easy as it sounds and then just when you thought they were going to finally have a Happy Ever After, tragedy struck.  Nope, I am not telling you a thing, you must read this to find out if true love does prevail..

There was a wonderful cast of characters in this book. I will tell you that I loved that the author provided a peak into the future with her awesome epilogue.  I also love that she was able to soothe Avery's heart and I hope that he finally opens himself up to discover love.. maybe a sequel..

This was a great read and I recommend this to anyone who loved and lost and still believes in the one perfect soul mate. This was surprisingly a book I couldn't put down and in some ways I am sad it ended. This close knit group of friends seem like just the people I would love to call 'my friends'.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

My Rating:

K. T. Wells has been telling stories since before she could read. She used to narrate books for her baby brother, concocting a plotline from the pictures. Not much has changed. One of her husband’s favorite pastimes is to listen to her tales after asking her to tell the story of people they observe in restaurants, airports or the subway.
Fascinated by the human condition, K. T.’s writing captures the emotions that drive the engines of our hearts. She is captivated by the rituals of love and believes everyone is entitled to a happily ever after.

In the Spotlight ~ My Pathway to Books

It is time for another feature blogger who is "In the Spotlight". Today we are being joined by Tess from My Pathway to Books.

Thanks, Tess for going us today!!

When and how did you decide to become a book blogger?
It was on a complete whim! Last summer I was completely bored, so I did what every other bored person does, got on my computer. That day I set up my twitter account, goodreads account, and blogger. When I first set up my blog, it wasn’t even a book blog. It was just a blog about life and it was called Live, Laugh, Love (so original right?). Then I started reading a ton of books and wanted a way to keep up with my thoughts and that is where this madness began.

What’s the hardest part of being a book blogger?
The hardest part is getting your name out in the blogging community! The first few followers are the hardest. Also when I started off I had no idea what I was doing so trying to figure out what the little acronyms like ARC that bloggers use really confused me!

A Week to Be Wicked by Tessa Dare

A Week to Be Wicked (Spindle Cove #2)
by Tessa Dare
Publisher: Avon
Expected publication: March 27th 2012
ISBN: 0062049879 (ISBN13: 9780062049872)

Review courtesy of Edelweiss

When a devilish lord and a bluestocking set off on the road to ruin…Time is not on their side.
Minerva Highwood, one of Spindle Cove’s confirmed spinsters, needs to be in Scotland.

Colin Sandhurst, Lord Payne, a rake of the first order, needs to be…anywhere but Spindle Cove.

These unlikely partners have one week:

- to fake an elopement
- to convince family and friends they’re in “love”
- to outrun armed robbers
- to survive their worst nightmares
- to travel four hundred miles without killing each other

All while sharing a very small carriage by day and an even smaller bed by night.

What they don’t have time for is their growing attraction. Much less wild passion. And heaven forbid they spend precious hours baring their hearts and souls.

Suddenly one week seems like exactly enough time to find a world of trouble.

And maybe…just maybe…love.
My Thoughts:

This was my first from Tess Dare and it won't be my last. Refreshing author spinning a unique tale, I couldn't put this down!!

The passion between Miranda and Colin sizzle from the start and continues on until the last page, Tessa Dare delivers a spicy romance you won’t want to put down. She spins a tale of two people who couldn’t be more opposite from one another, but who fall in love despite themselves. They try to fight the attraction but ultimately; they finally realize they were made for each other.

Minerva is your typical bluestocking girl, who is outshined by her beautiful sister. She is somewhat of an outcast, her own mother talks about her, even when she is in front of her! Minerva is seeking acceptance, maybe not from her family but from those who share her love of geology. It seems our Minerva has uncovered a footprint of what appears to be a prehistoric reptile, which she named ‘Francine’. She plans on traveling to Scotland to present her findings at a geology symposium.  But she is smart enough to know she can’t travel alone, now can she just convince Lord Payne to accompany her…

The Rogue Pirate's Bride by Shana Galen

The Rogue Pirate's Bride (The Sons of the Revolution #3) by Shana Galen
Publication: February 7th 2012
Publisher: Sourcebooks

Review courtesy of netGalley

Amazon  |  Barnes & Noble  |  IndieBound

Passionate, action-packed Regency romance by RT Reviewer’s Choice award-winning author Shana Galen features the swashbuckling Sebastien Harcourt, marquis de Valere, and the nautical genius heroine destined to best him. After escaping France on a privateer’s ship, Sebastian becomes the notorious privateer Captain Cutlass. His reputation as a rogue precedes him and he’s undefeated in battle, until he crosses swords with the beautiful daughter of a British admiral. Raeven Russell is out for revenge, but now she’s not so sure she wants the dashing captain to change his wicked ways.
My Thoughts:

This book captivated me right from the start. It hooked me from the first page  and I didn’t couldn’t put it down until I read the last page. I am not sure my review will do this book justice. Let me give it a try, though.

I selected this book not knowing that it was part of a series, actually this is book three in The Sons of the Revolution. I would not have known until I came toward the end of the book, even then the author gave you enough of a background that I didn’t feel lost at all.  I have to say this book gave my sexy Highlanders a run for their money, who knew that privateers could be this HOT!! This book had it all, and quite frankly it is on my top ten list for 2012 ~ and it is only February! I don’t think I ever used this many adjectives in describing one book, but this has revenge, betrayal, swashbuckling swordplay, kidnapping, murder and sizzling passionate romance.

The lucky winners win a $20 E-card gift certificate to either Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or for my international followers, you can spend up to $20.00 at the BookDepository.com, but there is a catch you have to live in one of the countries they ship to for free. Click here for list of countries.

I sent each winner an email, they have 48 hours to reply or I'll have to pick a new winner.
