Today I am welcoming author Shadonna Richards to the blog on her tour with Sizzling PR for the contemporary romance/romantic comedy novel 'An Unexpected Bride'. On my stop of the tour, I will be spotlighting the book and providing a review.
Shadonna will be giving away an ebook copy of Unexpected Bride to one randomly drawn commenter. So remember to comment, see below for more information on the giveaway.Emma Wiggins is about to marry her heart-stopping, gorgeous boss, CEO Evan Fletcher, in seven days—too bad he doesn’t know it yet!Desperate to fulfill her ailing grandfather’s last wish to see her settle down and get married, Emma Wiggins, a 30-year-old, career-focused executive tells him a little white lie on his deathbed that she is in fact engaged--to her boss, deliciously handsome and emotionally unavailable, Evan Fletcher. The situation takes an unexpected turn when her grandfather's condition improves slightly and to her shock, he goes ahead and arranges a wedding ceremony at his hospital bedside before he passes on. Now, all Emma has to do is convince unsuspecting, commitment-phobic Evan to tie the knot with her in seven days. Can love blossom in the most unlikely situation?
I was excited to read the book after reading the summary.
The author wove a believable relationship with Emma and her "Gramps". I think many of us, if given the same circumstance, would do whatever it took to grant the most important person in our life their final wish. Emma got herself in quite a mess once she told her "Gramps" she was engaged, and I was curious how she was going to get herself out of her predicament.
There was so much the author could have done with the plot, the storyline was cute, the characters were perfect for one another. I found the author was too descriptive, she tended to over describe unrelated facts. At times, I found myself skimming pages just to move the story along. I was somewhat confused with Emma's relationship with her mother, why would she not refer to her as "mother", "mom" or even her first name, rather than refer to her as "Mrs. Wiggins"?
As I was reading along, the book just ended. She left alot of unanswered questions for this reader: What happened in the last conversation between Evan's and his father?, Why did Evan finally change his mind ~ what about the family curse? The whole story centered around the upcoming nuptuals, but at the end you didn't learn anything about it.
I was hoping for more from 'An Unexpected Bride'. The author missed an opportunity to make this a WOW. The author spent to much time being descriptive in other areas except when it was really needed ~ at the end.
I think many will enjoy the book. So if you have a chance go out and pick up a copy. I received this advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
