How to Marry A Marquis by Julia Quinn

How to Marry a Marquis
by Julia Quinn

When Elizabeth Hotchkiss stumbles upon a copy of the book, "How to Marry a Marquis," the timing is all too appropriate. She must marry for money to support her siblings, and a little peek in the book can't hurt. James Sidwell, the Marquis of Riverdale, gallantly offers to help her by suggesting she practice the book's rules on him. But practice becomes all too perfect, and she may learn her lessons too well.

My thoughts:

This is the second book in the series Ex Spies, the first was Catch a Heiress. This cute, funny story. It was romantic. It was great to see Lady Danbury make an appearance or two in the story, the funny quirky banter was great. Lady Danbury's companion, Elizabeth and her nephew would be the perfect couple if only they could get to know each other.

The story line included: Lady Danbury, blackmail, hidden identity,a guide book on how to win a Marquis and three delightful children.

To Catch An Heiress by Julia Quinn

To Catch an Heiress (Ex-spies, #1)
To Catch an Heiress by Julia Quinn

When Caroline Trent is kidnapped by Blake Ravenscroft, she doesn′t even try to elude this dangerously handsome agent of the crown. After all, she′s been running from unwanted marriage proposals. Yes, Blake believes she′s a notorious spy named Carlotta De Leon, but for six weeks until her twenty-first birthday, when she′ll gain control of her fortune, hiding out in the titillating company of a mysterious captor is awfully convenient -- and maybe just a little romantic, too.
Blake Ravenscroft′s mission is to bring "Carlotta" to justice, not to fall in love. His heart has been hardened by years of intrigue, but this little temptress proves oddly disarming and thoroughly kissable. And suddenly the unthinkable becomes possible that this mismatched Couple might be destined for love.

My thoughts:

I laughed many times while reading this book. I really enjoyed this book, it is yet another of my favorites from Julia Quinn.

This story is a case a mistaken identity. Blake believes Caroline is a spy which he has been chasing. By the time he realizes his mistake, things have gotten complicated. They fight a lot and it is great fun because Blake has quite an adorable temper. You need to read it to find out how this unfolds....

If You Dare by Kresley Cole

If You Dare (MacCarrick Brothers, #1)
If You Dare
by Kresley Cole

High in the Pyrenees, a band of mercenaries led by Courtland MacCarrick wages war for General Reynaldo Pascal. When Court turns on the evil general, Pascal orders him killed but Court narrowly escapes and exacts revenge by kidnapping Pascal's exquisite Castilian fiancée.

Can she deny her passions?

Lady Annalía Tristán Llorente despises her towering, barbaric captor almost as much as she does Pascal. Her inexplicable attraction to the Highlander only fuels her fury. But nothing will stop her from returning to Pascal -- for if she doesn't wed him, she signs her brother's death warrant, as well as her own.

Can there be love between them?

From the moment Court discovers that Anna's prim façade masks a fiery, brave lass, his heart's ensnared, and he dares to defy the curse that has shadowed his life -- to walk with death or walk alone. But Pascal vows that he'll hunt the two, never stopping until he's destroyed them both.

My thoughts:

There were so many mixed reviews, some loved it and some didn't. Unfortunately, this is not how I decide which book to read. If that was the case, I could have had a completely great book be passed over by others feedback...

I have been pleasantly surprised with this series. I became fascinated with Scots when reading her IAD books. How could you not love them? I also became a fan of Historical Romance, from a Reading Challenge, which was a book by Julia Quinn.

The series is about three brothers, each fighting their own demons. The first book is Court's and Anna's. If you have it on your TBR list, dust it off and chose this next time you can't decide which book to read next.

I am not going to make reviews dictate if I should read or not read a story.

Happy Reading..

If You Desire by Kresley Cole

If You Desire (MacCarrick Brothers, #2)
If You Desire by Kresley Cole

He tried to run....
In his youth, Hugh MacCarrick foolishly fell in love with a beautiful English lass who delighted in teasing him with her flirtatious ways. Yet he knew he could never marry her because he was shadowed by an accursed family legacy. To avoid temptation, Hugh left home, ultimately becoming an assassin.

She tried to forget him....
Jane Weyland was devastated when the Highlander she believed would marry her abandoned her instead. Years later, when Hugh MacCarrick is summoned to protect her from her father's enemies, her heartache has turned to fury -- but her desire for him has not waned.

Will passion overwhelm them?
In hiding, Jane torments Hugh with seductive play. He struggles to resist her because of deadly secrets that could endanger her further. But Hugh is no longer a gentle young man -- and toying with the fever-pitched desires of a hardened warrior will either get Jane burned...or enflame a love that never died.

My thoughts:

Another wonderful read from Kresley Cole. This is the second book in the series. The two main characters, Hugh and Jane have loved each other half their lives. He left her thinking he could not have her. She yearned for him for ten years. Threat brings them together. And the heat, the passion they have for one another ignites.
