Four fearless warriors return to the Highlands to claim their lands and legacies. But all their trials on the battlefield can't prepare them for their greatest challenge yet: winning the hearts of four willful Scottish beauties.

Star-Crossed

From the Isle of Skye to the battlefields of France, Duncan MacDonald has never escaped the memory of the true love he left behind. Deemed unworthy of a chieftain's daughter, Duncan abandoned the lovely Moira to prove his worth in battle. Now, when called upon to rescue her from a rival clan, one thing is certain: Moira's pull on his heart is stronger than ever.

Bartered away in marriage to a violent man, Moira will do anything to ensure she and her son survive. When a rugged warrior arrives to save her, the desperate beauty thinks her prayers have been answered—until she realizes it's Duncan. The man who once broke her heart is now her only hope. Moira vows never again to give herself—or reveal her secrets—to the fierce warrior, but as they race across the sea, danger and desire draw them ever closer.

My Thoughts
I was looking forward to Duncan's story and Margaret Mallory didn't let me down. THis was a wonderful roller coaster of a book. So much so that I didn't know which way the story line would turn next... On land and at sea, hold on tight - your are in for a ride of your life.

Our hero, Duncan loved Moira for a better part of his life. But as the story goes, he was a class beneath her and her father had a different bridegroom planned for his young daughter.  Years past and our heroine's live didn't turn out the way daddy dearest expected, seven years of misery married to a violent man. Moira s only saving grace was her young son, who as any mother would do, she put his  safety and well being above her own. I knew I hated her husband the moment he gave his son the ultimatum  drowning her mother or giving up his beloved dog- Sar. What an arse!!

Don't miss how Duncan saves the day and how he learns about a little secret Moira has for him. It is touching and moving. Romance at its best...

This was a perfect addition to the Return of the Highlanders series. I heard that the Chieftain will finally have his story told this coming February. I am looking forward to see what Margaret has in store for him.

I do recommend you read the first two books in the series, it seemed to flow better for me having read them and learning about the rest of the Highlanders.
