Interview with Amelia James ~ Tell Me You Want Me and Giveaway

I recently posted a review of a new and upcoming author, Amelia James.  I am happy to welcome Amelia James, she is stopping by FBL to talk about herself and her book “Tell Me You Want Me.  If you want to learn more about Amelia- don't miss the one on one interview she has with "herself". I must say she has a knack for getting people to open up about themselves and share their "naughty" side.

Don't miss out on the Giveaway, you will find more information on that following the Q & A....

"I can give you exactly what you're asking for, Janie, and I can give it to you all night long."

Their first kiss is impulsive, fun, a little wicked--everything Jane Elliot isn't looking for in a man--but desperately needs. Their second kiss is slow, deliberate, an instant connection--everything Austin Sinclair never had with a woman--and doesn't want.

Jane isn't the easy conquest Austin's used to. She's a stubborn-as-hell bookworm who's more interested in studying than dating. She needs a little--no--a lot of fun in her life, and Austin's just the guy who can give it to her. Too bad she thinks love should easy. Too bad Austin knows it isn't.

Everybody told her to stay away from the heartbreaker, but Jane knows there's more to Austin than full-body contact kisses and bad boy charm. All he ever promised her was a good time and wow, does he ever deliver...

A steamy romance sure to get your juices flowing. FOR ADULTS ONLY.

FBL ♥:  Do you write detailed character profiles before writing, or do you find the characters come to life as you write?
I write about people and relationships, so I have to know my characters before writing. Once I understand their conflicts, I know what stories they have to tell. I make notes before writing, but learn more about my characters along the way.

FBL ♥:  What do you like better: when you’ve just started writing a book or when you’ve just finished one, and why?
I have almost as much fun brainstorming as I do writing. Maybe that's my favorite part, but I also enjoy finishing a story. No, I have a hard time letting go. I'd much rather write the beginning than the end.

FBL ♥: What was your favorite chapter (or part) in “Tell Me You Want Me” to write and why?
Makeup sex in the kitchen. I hated writing their fight scenes, so I enjoyed getting them back together.

FBL ♥ : Is anything in your book based on real life experiences or purely all imagination?
Jane's mother is a lot like mine. Oh, were you asking about the love scenes? Let's just say not everything I write is fiction. ;)

FBL ♥: What was the hardest thing to cut from your manuscript?
The original draft had a couple of scenes between Jack and Sara, the secondary characters. I cut them because I needed to focus on Austin and Jane, but I was able to use some of what I deleted for Jack and Sara's book, Secret Storm.

FBL ♥: What books are on your nightstand, waiting to be read?
I went to RomCon 2012 in June, and I came home with 13 paperbacks, including The Pleasure of Your Kiss by Teresa Mederios, and The Rake and The Recluse by Jenn LeBlanc. Wish I had more time to read.

FBL ♥: What do you think is the greatest creative risk you've taken in this book?
Writing the conflict scenes. I don't like a lot of drama when I read, and the tone of this book is light and fun. But I learned that conflict was necessary for a good story so I added some in, and once I did, I discovered I did it pretty well. Now I make sure there's plenty of conflict in every story.

FBL ♥:  You had two of your stories published in Playgirl. Can you tell us a bit about how it felt to be published in the sexually charged magazine.
It felt pretty awesome. I'd been writing stories for years, but Playgirl was the first to actually pay me for it. But I couldn't tell anyone about my accomplishment because my husband was working in a church at the time, and my friends and family are all very conservative and judgmental. They still don't know.

FBL ♥: What is next on your list? Do you already have a future project in mind?
My next romance novel, Secret Storm, will be released on October 2, 2012. While I was writing Tell Me You Want Me, I fell in love with Austin's best friend, Jack, so I decided to write his story. It's darker and had more drama. Secret is my favorite of the two.

I also have an erotic mosaic novel, Her Twisted Pleasures, available now. It's not a romance, no happy ending, but the sex is hawt and a bit kinky if you like that kind of thing. ;)

I got hooked on trashy romance novels in junior high, but my mom took them away from me, But she couldn’t stop me from daydreaming. After I got married, I wrote some of my naughtier daydreams down and sent them to Playgirl magazine. Two of them got published. I kept daydreaming and writing stories until my dirty stories turned into trashy books.

I live in Colorado, but I’ll always be a loyal Wisconsin Cheesehead. When I’m not lusting after my next bad boy hero, I’m looking for inspiration in sci-fi and action movies, football players, bloodsucking lawyers, muscle cars, and kick-butt chicks.

You can find me on Facebook, and on Twitter I’m known as Trashy Writer. I call myself a trashy writer because I want my readers to know that I enjoy mindless escapism as much as they do. I’m not out to win a Pulitzer Prize. I just want to help someone relax and get away from it all for a little while. I write romance, erotica and trash for fun and pleasure. I hope you had a good time. I did.

Hi! Lovely interview! I didn't know this author before, thanks for sharing. I think we like bad boys because of their dangerous and wild side. The fact that they are so mysterious and we all want to find out why! Thanks for this chance!
