Sam knows he made the biggest mistake of his life when he broke things off with Val. He's determined to win her back, this time for good. But despite the sizzling heat between them, Val keeps pulling away. He has to convince her to trust him—and her own heart—again, especially as the time draws near when she'll need him the most...Book two of the Sisters of McDougal Ranch series.Look for book one, Chantilly's Cowboy, available now.

My thoughts:

I normally do not read book out of sequence, but honestly this book could stand on its own. After reading this, I am anxious to go back and read Book One Chantilly’s Cowboy. I fell in love with the family, the book was very inspiring and paints an intimate portrait of a family dealing with their father’s illness. The author was able to bring each character to life. You felt the sister’s bond and how they can endure anything as long as they have each other.

"I named my girls after different types of lace... Margot, Bisette, Florentine, Chantilly and Valenciennes. You all carry the middle name of Lace for a reason. For how dainty and fragile lace appears, because it is all intricately woven together, lace is a hardy, strong fabric that will last a lifetime. Just like you girls."

The heroine is Val, she is the youngest. She is afraid to love because she is afraid of losing that love. She was young when her mom died, and now she faces the death of her father. . Her true love, Sam returns determined to win Val back. Their romance rekindles but Val still struggles with the possibility that she will lose him, too.

Knowing that he was dying, her father scripted letters to each of his daughters. When Val finally is ready to read her special letter, it was heartbreaking, as well as a turning point. With her daddy's final words, she is willing to accept that love is precious and worth the risk.

"loving can cost a lot but not loving always costs more".

Note: Grab Your Kleenex, you’ll need them.

The secondary storylines were also great. We were left with a cliffhanger, hinting at who will take center stage in the next book.

Well Done! I LOVED it, it even left me wanting more. I would buy this. Oh, and did I mention the HOT Cover Art, gotta love them cowboys!! ♥♥♥

About the Author
When multi-published Romance author, Debra Kayn is not staying up late dreaming of new stories to write, she enjoys riding motorcycles, gardening, playing tennis, and spending time with a fishing pole in her hands.

She lives in the beautiful Coastal Mountains of Oregon on a hobby farm with her husband and kids. Her love of animals includes dogs, chickens, goats, rabbits, turkeys, geese, and yes...pigs. The peacefulness of a flowing creek across her property provides an excellent spot to read a book on a summer day, go swimming, and catch the ever elusive fish.

One thing she can promise is her books will always have a happily-ever-after, and where love and laughter, and family come from the heart...
